Small Business Phone Systems:
Save Money With A Virtual Small Business Phone System

Small business phone systems have a big drawback in the cost of installation and the on going cost of maintenance. The other problem is deciding how many incoming lines will be required to effectively handle the expected call volume.

If you are about to purchase a business phone system, before you make a final decision it might be worth considering the virtual alternative.

What is a virtual business phone system?

These days phone companies use modern telephone switches that can do a lot more than simply route a call to its destination phone number. Because a modern switch is a computer, it can be programmed to fulfil the same functions as a dedicated stand alone private branch exchange (pbx).

What benefits do I get from using a virtual business phone system?

  1. The main advantage is that you enjoy the functionality of a business phone system whilst all the problems of housing, maintenance and upgrades remain the responsibility of the phone company.
  2. If you don't have enough incoming phone lines to handle a short term surge in traffic (for example during an advertising campaign), the virtual phone system will queue the calls for you.
  3. The virtual business phone system can provide you with additional phone numbers enabling you to easily track advertising response.

What does a virtual business phone system cost?

The Adcall Virtual Switchboard offers you two 084 prefix access phone numbers absolutely free. Additional numbers can be rented for £5 per month.

You don't pay to receive calls on UK land lines. (If you want to receive calls on UK 07 mobile numbers there is a charge of 10p per minute.)

Callers pay 4.26p/min plus VAT to call 084 numbers. Adcall receives a portion of this call cost, which is how we can offer you this service at no cost.

What facilities does the Adcall Virtual Switchboard provide?

  1. You can instantly reconfigure your virtual switchboard from a web interface that also provides call statistics.
  2. You may route calls to up to five UK 01 or 02 land lines or UK 07 mobile numbers either sequentially or load balanced. The latter is useful if you wish to spread calls evenly to your colleagues or a call centre.
  3. Callers are queued and optionally told their queue place.
  4. Callers are optionally played music-on-hold and you may choose from eleven music selections.
  5. Your callers hear a standard greeting or you may record your own.
  6. You may select the period before asking callers to leave a voicemail message.
  7. Voicemail messages are sent to you by e-mail as sound file attachments that can be played on your computer.
TIP: You can send all callers immediately to voicemail by
setting Office Hours to Always Closed
    .
  8. You may optionally have missed-call alerts sent to you by SMS. You may purchase SMS credits for between 7p and 10p each depending on quantity.
  9. You may set your office hours outside which callers can hear an out-of-hours announcement and optionally be asked to leave a voicemail message.
  10. The optional “whisper” feature tells you the source of the call before you speak to the caller. For example, “You have a call for sales” or “You have a call from Yellow Pages”.
  11. If callers hang up without leaving a message, their phone number will be e-mailed to you.
